Strange problems

I’m a planner. I like to look down the road and scope out the possibilities and start forming contingency plans for all the scenarios I can think of. Most of this effort is somewhat wasted because I’m not the world’s greatest forecaster. But when it pays off, it pays off. And I can’t help myself. So I keep looking down that road and planning ahead.

Right now, I am looking at our roster for eventual operations in SWTOR. We’re planning on doing 8-mans, and our main problem right now is that of the 11 or so people we have planning to play, four of them want to be tanks. Three or four of them have strong leanings towards healing.

I know everyone might change their minds about what they want to be and do between now and when we’re actually getting close to end game. But for now? I’m laughing my fool head off that we might have to make a big push to recruit DPS, of all things.

What sort of guild ever has a problem like that?

I’m hopeful that BioWare will have implemented a dual-spec mechanic by the time we’re ready to run operations. And although no one will have the ability to swap between all three roles without playing a different advanced class, each AC always has a DPS option.

Yeah, I am also hoping for dual specs by then. Of course, Dion informed me that he intends to tank. Only tank. No dps. I know it all might change so I’m not really worried. Just amused at the “problem.”

Oh noes, QQ. That’s a TERRIBLE problem to have. The horror. How ever will we find DPS to recruit :P

I am liking the idea of a Gunslinger more and more (gee, I wonder why), so I am toying with the idea of leveling one up a little with my main Jedi Guardian.

The other issue I so, however, is that most of our dps appears to be ranged, so maybe a Gunslinger would not be great. Since I anticipate being the last of the 11 to reach level cap, I will see how things shake out between tanks, melee dps, and ranged dps. Most likely, I will level my Guardian as a tank, then switch to melee dps if there really are too many tanks.

      You? A gunslinger? Shocking.

As long as people are willing to be flexible and we have dual specs, we should be fine when end game hits. But I really can’t stop chortling over the absolute reversal of the problem most guilds might have that we seem to be facing.

A glut of tanks and healers is a nice problem to have…
